RHOS Male Voice Choir’s new year programme continued on Friday, 9th Feb, at the Floral Pavilion in New Brighton, raising several thousand pounds for Age UK Wirral.

The choir was joined by soloist Elias Ackerley from Wrexham – a  talented pianist and student at the prestigious Chethams School of Music in Manchester. Elias, 16, is one of the category finalists in the BBC Young Musician of the Year 2018.

Musical director James Llewelyn Jones said after the concert: “The choir has a long standing relationship with Age UK Wirral and we were delighted to take part once again in a concert to support the fantastic work they do.

“I think audience really appreciated the wide scope of the pieces we performed.

“It was also a great privilege to hear Elias Ackerley once again – he performed in a concert with the choir last year and is an amazingly talented young man. Once again we witnesses a mesmerising performance from him – and I am sure we all wish him well in the Young Musician of the Year competition.”

Malcolm Mottershead of Age UK Wirral expressed gratitude to the choir for an “amazing concert”.  “The concert was attended by over 450 people and helped raise funds to maintain our services for older people in Wirral. We are extremely grateful for the support of the Choir over many years and look forward to their continued support in the future.”
