[ Treble Clef ] John A. Daniel graduated from the Royal Manchester College of Music in 1971 where he studied piano and voice. He gained the position of Head of Music in September of that year at Morgan Llwyd Welsh school in Wrexham where he is now Head of the Faculty of Expressive Arts.

Also in January of that year he was appointed Musical Director of the Froncysyllte Male Voice Choir with whom he has won many prestigious competitions including the National Eisteddfod, the Llangollen International Eisteddfod, the Choral Festival on S4C and the BBC Wales Choir of the Year.

With the Fron choir he has represented Wales on many occasions noteably in festivals in Paris, Dunlaoghaire, the Toronto International Festival, and Expo 86 in Vancouver, Canada.

His school chiors have also been very successful winning in the Urdd National Eisteddfod, the BBC School's Choir of the Year, the Youth Choral Festival on S4C, and prize winners at the Llangollen International Festival, as well as giving numerous concerts noteably at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

John has also been involved with the Rhos Silver Band where his two sons were members. He played percussion when the band won their section in the National Finals and also established and conducted the Youth Band to ensure continuity for the senior band.

Before becoming Musical Director of the Rhos Male Voice Choir, John was the Musical Director of the Rhos Ladies Choir who, under his directorship, gained first prize at the National Eisteddfod of Wales, and third prize at the Llangollen International Festival.

John leads a very full musical life, as well as his teaching commitment, he adjudicates at Eisteddfodau including the National Eisteddfod of Wales, the Urdd National Eisteddfod for youth, conducts singing festivals in England and Wales, and also gives masterclasses to other male voice choirs and choral societies on voice production, choral techniques, and musical interpretation.

John hopes that his contribution as Musical Director of the Rhos Male Voice Choir will enhance their already prestigious acclaim, and his vision for the future is that enthusiasm, commitment, and hard work on the part of all choristers and himself will ensure that the standards already attained can be raised even higher.
