Rhosllanerchrugog is a village of about 9,000 inhabitants situated on a hilltop overlooking the beautiful Vale of Maelor in North East Wales. The nearest town is Wrexham, within easy reach of Llangollen, the home of the International Musical Eisteddfod. The city of Chester is just over the border of England. We have first class access to the road network to take us Nationwide.

The village of Rhos remains a vigorous Welsh community. Music, especially choral singing, has always played a prominant part in the life of the village. It boasts two mixed choirs, a musical theatre society, a drama society, two large male voice choirs and a female choir. Singing, to the people of Rhos, is very important. We also have an excellent brass band.

The Rhos Male Voice Choir was formed in 1891 with Richard Mills, a prominent musician of that time, as its conductor. Choral competitions at the many Eisteddfodau were the Choir's life blood. By the turn of the century, many premier awards had been won by the Choir. The Rhos Male Voice Choir is in great demand all over Wales and England, and in the 1899 appeared in St. James' Hall, London. In 1903, the choir sang for the Prince of Wales. They have appeared before Royalty several times since including Royal Variety Command Performance before Queen Elizabeth in 1975.

Since those days, the Choir has travelled thousands of miles to concert venues throughout the British Isles and have toured Europe and America on several occasions. In 1993 the Choir visited Switzerland and made a return visit in 1995. In 1997 the Choir went on a concert tour of Ontario, Canada and also visited Germany. The choir were very pleased to have been invited to sing in Columbus, Ohio in September 1998. The choir's musical director W. Tudor Jones conducted the evening's Gymanfa Ganu.

The Choir has concert bookings up to two years ahead and its future is assured as today's choristers display the same enthusiasm for the activities of the Choir as their forefathers. There has only been 11 conductors in the history of the Choir. Two of the Musical Directors served the Choir for 42 and 30 years respectively. The Choir has won numerous awards including: First prize winners at the Royal National Eisteddfod 6 times; BBC Radio Choir of the Year winners in 1984 and 1984. HTV Festival of Welsh Choral Music winners in 1990 and 1991, and Gold Award for the Male Voice Choir competition of the International Musical Eisteddfod, Llangollen in July 1997.
